"Holy Under-Statement, Batman!"

Girl with hair ribbon by Roy Lichtenstein

Roy Lichtenstein was a prominent pop artist who was mostly influenced by advertisments and the comic book style. Roy used Magna and oil paint work in his best know works. His work used thick outlines, bold colors, and Ben-Day dots to represent certain colors. His best-known pieces are very close to the original comic book panels, but not an exact match. Arguably his most famous image is Whaam! which was one of the earliest known examples of pop art. But my favorite I think is this piece, Girl with hair ribbon.
